Gambhir Banned for 1 Test Match

India opener Gautam Gambhir on Friday was banned for one Test match after he was found guilty of elbowing Australia all-rounder Shane Watson during the ongoing third Test in Delhi .

ICC match referee Chris Broad, however, let off Watson lightly, as he was fined just 10 per cent of his match fee for verbal abuse.

Infact, the video replays show quite clearly that Watson was responsible in provoking Gambhir, who then reacted. Gambhir elbowed Watson as he took a run after the bowler gestured and appeared to say something to him before the tea interval on the first day on Wednesday.

The two players appeared for a disciplinary hearing before match referee Chris Broad.
