Adam today scored a splendid 109 unbeaten scoring fastest century in IPL breaking record of Symonds and took Deccan Chargers to the first victory by 10 wickets

Deccan Chargers today won the toss and elected to field first .Their decision soon proved haven for Deccan Bowlers as they wrapped Mumbai Indians top order for cheap but a struggling innings by Bravo and Nayar took Mumbai Indians to 154 for 7 giving some hopes but today was the day of Adam Gilchrist as he played like the real Adam Gilchrist beating all bad deliveries bowled by Mumbai Indians for boundaries and gave Deccan Chargers a simple win.

A struggling innings by Abhishek Nayar and Harbhajan Singh at the later of Mumbai inning made all go biting their nail and made all think that Chennai will ose the match on their ground but Dhoni kept his nerve down and got a sizzling win in last 2 final balls of match . A superb all round performance by Chennai Super Kings gets them a exciting win over Mumbai Indians by 6 runs. A 102 runs partnership between Suresh Raina and Mathew Hayden built the solid foundation of this win as Chennai Super Kings get 208 for 5 in 20 overs. This is there second consecutive 200 plus score on board.

Without Sachin in side,Mumbai Indians lead by Harbhajan Singh won the toss and elected to field first as due to due which can make bowling tough in second half. His decision soon looked going wrong a sCHennai Super Kings were taking Indians main bowlers but superb bowling by Ashish Nehra and DS Kulkarni ,Mumbai Indians got two good breakthrough but a superb Partnership between Mathew Hayden and Suresh Raina changed the happiness of Mumbai Indians to worry . With their superb batting and Dhosni small but sparkling inning Chennai got 208 for 5 in 20 overs giving Mumbai Indians a total of 209 to chase.

Chasing 209 on board Mumbai Indians soon look in trouble as they lost their first wicket in 1st over. Ronchi was the one to become prey for Chennai Super Kings. After adding some runs on board Sanath too got out and Mumbai Were struggling at 30 for 2 . But a superb and valuable partnership between Robin and Shaun Pollock made the match wide open for both ,they both added sparkling 51 runs for 3rd wicket stand but as soon RV Uthappa got out the match started slipping towards Chennai . With run rate increasing and wickets falling it became crystal clear that Chennai will get easy win but brilliant innings by Harbhajan Singh and AM Nayar made the match exciting and tense one in end but tricky bowling by Joginder in last over gave Chennai their second consecutive win in IPl.

Indian Premier League - 7th match Deccan Chargers v Delhi Daredevils 2007/08 season Played at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Uppal, Hyderabad, on 22 April 2008 - day/night (20-over match) .

V Sehwags Blasting innings of 93 runs from 41 grabbed a thrilling victory over Deccan Chargers by 9 wickets. It was again superb bowling performance by Delhi bowlers to stop strong batting of Deccan Chargers to just 142 for 98 .In Reply with only losing 1 wicket Delhi achieved the target easily in 13 overs giving Deccan a embrassing defeat.

Deccan Chargers before starting of today game thought that they would be in a big relief by playing in their home ground and thought that they will be getting home advantage but Delhi Daredevils bowlers just ruin there dream into sand . In the evening as light came on VVS Laxman won the toss and elected to bat first as pitch looked pretty much helpful to batsmen. But his decision became the worst nightmare for his team.

It was Mohammad Asif who started the destruction of Deccan as he got Adam Gilchrist in bowled out in his first over and gave a tremendous blow to Deccan team at 9 and after this massive blow Deccan seems to have lost the rythum and lost quick wickets and were struggling badly at 60 for 5 . But it was Rohit Sharma who took the rescue work by not only scoring well but also keeping wicket in hand. Rohit’s dazzling 66, including 26 in a Farveez Maharoof over, rescued Deccan to much extent and got a respectful total of 142 for 8 in 20 overs. All The Delhi bowlers were superb specially Glen Mc Grath and Mohammad Asif who bowled economically to keep Deccan in pressure.

In reply Delhi started superbly and 31 from 3.2 overs and it looked like that they will achieve the target without losing a single wicket but Gautam Gambhir gave his wicket after losing the concentration. This Wicket gave Deccan some hope but Sehwag looked in great touch as he blasted Deccan bowlers for fours and sixes and guided his team to victory in 13th over without losing more wickets. He played a captain and so was awarded man of the match.

Deccan Chargers 142 for 8 (Rohit 66, Asif 2-19)

Delhi Daredevils 143 for 1 (Sehwag 94*)

Result Delhi Daredevils won by 9 wickets (with 42 balls remaining)

In a Closed encounter match which was dominated by South African Players Superb performance finally got into the hands of Banglore Royal Challengers due to the batting efforts of Mark Boucher and Jacques Kallis who really took the meal from the mouth of Mumbai Indians getting the first victory in the tournament after Friday Humiliating defeat. Bangalore won the Sunday blockbuster match by 5 wickets .

Sachin’s absence really made the fans disappointed who came to watch him play but they didnt expected such thrilling match with their own eyes in real. Mumbai Indians won the toss and elected to bat first.In absence of Sachin Harbhajan ingh guided Mumbai Indians in this match. Mumbai Indians start was nit good as they lost L Ronchi wicket in just second over plus lost Dominic Thornely which could have made Mumbai Indians in the game. Dominic Thornely got retired hurt on Zaheer Khan’s bowl which copped a blow above his eye which required 15 stitches. Robin Uthappa and Pollock were the two major contributors for Mumbai, with Sanath Jayasuriya giving some support after Mumbai getting such fatal blows in starting.

Mumbai Indians Manage to 165 for 6 in 20 overs and it looked like fighting total and it made the match opened for both team. As Bangalore require 166 to win they started brilliant and got 37 runs without losing any wicket. With Shivnarine Chanderpaul coming in side made Bangalore batting strong then Firday match which he proved in Sunday match by making a crucial frist wicket partnership with Dravid. The match was going pretty much balance till the time Kohli was there in pitch but as soon he got out it started looking like Mumbai Indians will take this match in to their pocket as banglore needed 60 from 39 balls. But Boucher thrilling and blast inning change the match to tilt toward Banglore side and with the efforts of Boucher and Kallis anglore won the match with 2 balls to spare. Mumbai Indians bowled pretty good but in the end it looked like they had lost their rythum

Shah Rukh Khan is at it again. The actor, who is known for his wicked
sense of humour, just can't seem to stop making digs at his rivals at
various public platforms. In the past, SRK made digs at Amitabh
Bachchan's good friend Amar Singh and during this year's Filmfare
award SRK didn't spare too many colleagues, including Akshay Kumar.
And SRK never seems to fall short of people he can make fun of. Now,
the actor has a new ground to cover - the Indian Premier League.
Naturally, the actor (who owns the Kolkata Knight Riders) is jubilant
about his team winning the first ever IPL match against Dr Vijay
Mallya's team, Bangalore Royal Challengers on Friday.
Now on the website of his team www.kolkataknightriders.com, Shah Rukh
has made fun of all the rival teams including that of MS Dhoni, Shane
Warne and VVS Laxman who represent Chennai Super Kings, Rajasthan
Royals and Hyderabad Deccan Chargers respectively. Not only has SRK
made digs at the rival teams but also cricket legends and former
Indian captain, Krishnamachari Srikanth who was the highest scorer
when In dia won the World Cup in 1983.
The other nasty dig that SRK has made is on Lalchand Rajput who
incidentally was the coach in-charge of the victorious Indian team for
the T20 World Cup. SRK has insulted Rajput by putting his picture on
an advertisement on the website with the heading 'Waste book', which
says: 'If, like former team manager Lalchand Rajput, you suddenly find
yourself with plenty of free time, don't despair.'
However, the dig that takes the cake is a magazine cover called
Chicinfo where SRK has not even spared his close friend Yuvraj Singh.
The cover page has Yuvraj Singh's picture with a South Indian actress
and reads: `Yuvraj Singh seen with someone who looks like Katrina
Kaif', `Yuvraj Singh seen with Deepika Padukone' and even `Yuvraj
Singh parties with Jessica Simpson'. There is one more 'advertisement'
which says: 'When you have good looks and great style, nobody really
cares about performance when it matters. Just ask Yuvraj Singh.'
Incidentally, Yuvraj is the captain of Preity Zinta's IPL team, Kings
XI Punjab.
SRK has even made fun of cricketers who had a great domestic
career but could not shine on the international level. The digs imply
that if one has Memo Boost!, which is a memory enhancing tablet they
will even remember '…insignificant things like the careers of
forgotten cricketers like Ajay Sharma, Noel David and Bharathi Arun!'
Well, one thing is for sure. These tricks will certainly not help
SRK win any matches but it will definitely leave a bad taste in the

A taste of American glamour in Indian Premier League

After pumping millions into music videos, road shows and media campaigns, the Indian Premier League franchises are now employing American cheerleaders to add to the glitz of the Twenty20 extravaganza.

Pompom-wielding cheerleaders from the United States will be seen supporting Bangalore Royal Challengers when boundaries are scored and wickets tumble in their IPL encounters.

The Vijay Mallya-owned team recently roped in "Washington Redskins Cheerleaders" to be its official cheerleaders for the first four matches of the tournament.

"Involvement of cheerleaders is certainly not to cheer the players, but the audience. It will create an environment of zeal and the fusion music will give impetus to the scene. Twenty20 is a fast game and it represents just that," Chetan Chauhan, former Indian cricketer, said.

"It is a new concept in India, although teams from South Africa and Australia have had cricket cheerleaders," he added.

According to the Redskins' website, 12 of their cheerleaders and two choreographers will spend 18 days touring the country and performing at major events, including the first four games of the Bangalore IPL team.

"Cheerleading is a unique American concept and the fact that it now is a bridge into India and cricket, speaks to the world vision of the Washington Redskins," says an American official involved with the event.

What would be on show is a fusion of Indian and American styles of dance.

Some Indian dance experts too provided tips to visiting cheerleaders to add some Bollywood dance style in their performance.

"This fusion of dance backgrounds has created a new amazing style. I am really looking forward to the reaction of India towards the Redskins Cheerleaders," Donald Wells, Redskins' cheerleading director, said.

"I've known what we are doing is cutting edge and it's great to see that we are going to start this squad off on the right foot."

VADODARA: It was a chilly morning in January 2007 when pacer Irfan Pathan was trying hard to prove his worth in a Ranji tie against Uttar Pradesh at the Reliance stadium in the city. He seemed a bit anxious and kept glancing at a pretty girl sitting near the boundary line. The girl couldn't take her eyes off him and kept cheering each time Irfan hit a boundary on the last day of the match. An inspired Irfan hit 82 runs and helped his team win the match. But the big question here is: Did Irfan also find his match on that day? The girl, Shivangi Dev, had come all the way from Australia and is said to be the daughter of an Indian diplomat based in Canberra.

Tongues started wagging when Irfan was found missing as Team India was felicitated in New Delhi two days ago. BCCI officials said he had stayed back in Australia with permission of the board to attend to some personal matter. Sources now say he may have stayed back to spend some time with Shivangi. Indian ODI skipper M S Dhoni is in news again, but not for cricket. Dhoni today visited a temple in Ranchi and sacrificed a goat as part of temple rituals. He was seen performing all religious functions along with the temple priest. He did so in the presence of some political leaders and officials. Although animal sacrifice is very common in Jharkhand, the issue might snowball further, as Dhoni is associated with national pride and millions of cricket fans look to him as an idol.

SACHIN Tendulkar : The Greatest Ever

"Going, going, gone…" No Indian cricket follower can ever forget TV commentator Tony Greig's excitement on seeing a Sachin Tendulkar straight hit, off Michael Kasprowicz, vanish into the stands in Sharjah in 1998.
    Even ten years down the line, there was a similar excitement in Greig's voice when he talked about Tendulkar. "To me, Sachin is the greatest cricketer ever," said Greig, making it clear in one simple sentence what he feels about the Little Master.
    The former England captain, who has been associated with the game for over 40 years in different capacities, was quick to justify his choice.
    "If you only talk about cricketing abilities, Sir Gary Sobers is No 1. But it's not just about how you play, but the way you carry yourself on and off the field. And in that regard, Sachin is head and shoulders above other cricketing greats," he told the TOI.
    Greig recalled something that Sir Don Bradman once told to him about Sachin's batting — 'This boy has the natural ability to pick length… It's the hallmark of a genius'. "Sir Don's words still ring in my ears," said the burly Englishman a touch emotionally.
    He didn't want to rank Tendulkar's centuries, because each one is 'priceless' in its own way. "But it's for sure that you'll have to prize me out of the commentary box when he is batting," Greig added.
    He agreed that Tendulkar isn't the same batsman that he was five years back. "But it doesn't matter. The way he changed himself according to the demands of his team only underlines his greatness. Not many can do that," said Greig.
    According to Greig, what actually sets Sachin apart from the other greats is the way the Mumbai maestro carries himself off the field. "Being the God of India for so long, it surprises me no end to see the way he has handled fame. He is still the same down-to-earth man he was 15 years back," Greig said, adding: "If I ever wanted my son to be like anyone, it's Sachin Tendulkar." He also credited the champion batsman for the way he took the fight to the Australians in the recent series.
    "All credit to Sachin, Harbhajan Singh, Anil Kumble and Mahendra Singh Dhoni for the way they took the fight to the Aussies. They have not only hit the Aussies where they are most vulnerable, but have also saved the game from becoming boring by making inroads into the Australian empire," Greig added.
    However, he didn't rule out a last ditch effort by the Aussies to protect their kingdom. "They came back very well after the 2005 Ashes. I won't be surprised if they try to hit back hard at the Indians," he said.
    But with so many giants retiring, do they have the resources to get back at Young India?
    "Don't forget, Young India will lose one of its old generals, Tendulkar, in near future. I want to see how they cope with it," Greig said, predicting a Battle Royale in the days to come. (Concluded)
